QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, social sciences, criminal justice or related field. A combination
of a Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in police operational matters including community oriented policing may be accepted in lieu of
the advanced degree. Graduation from a certified police academy or other law enforcement training facility is required.
Work Experience: Aminimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in active national police service at the strategic, operational and administrative
levels with the rank of Superintendent or Lt. Colonel, other service equivalent or higher rank is required. At least three years of specific
experience in community-oriented policing, both policy-making and implementation is required. Peacekeeping or other international experience
in the UN or other international organizations is desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the UN. For the post
advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Fluency in French is desirable.

Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the applied sciences, public administration, business management or other relevant field. A
first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and extensive experience in law enforcement operational matters, including

Inspector or Major, equivalent or higher rank is required. Experience in UN peacekeeping missions, other similar international organizations is required. Experience in

SPC Annual Report - 2020
Through the 2020 Standing Police Capacity Report, you will be able to see the large spectrum of expertise and support provided by SPC to many partners and stakeholders on policing issues. Despite the 2020 pandemic in which we were all embedded, the SPC was able to implement its mandated tasks and demonstrated the Team’s eagerness and capacity to deliver the required support to UN Missions, both DPO and DPPA alike.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Formation : Diplôme universitaire du second cycle (Master ou équivalent) en droit, gestion policière,
application de la loi, études de sécurité, justice pénale, administration publique, gestion des ressources
humaines, gestion du changement, ou dans un domaine connexe.
Un diplôme universitaire de premier cycle combiné à une expérience pertinente peut être accepté en lieu et
place du diplôme universitaire du second cycle. Une formation avancée pour le commandement / les cadres
supérieurs est hautement souhaitable. L'obtention d'un diplôme d'une académie de police certifiée ou d'un
autre établissement de formation en application de la loi reconnu à l'échelle nationale ou internationale est
également requis.
Expérience professionnelle : Un minimum de 15 ans (10 ans pour un P5) de service actif / d’expérience
progressive dans la police de terrain et au niveau du siège de la police nationale, dont 10 ans (7 ans pour un
P5) d’expérience policière active à un niveau de prise décision élevé avec une expérience approfondie de
planification stratégique et de gestion dans des domaines tels que les opérations de police, la gestion de la
criminalité et l'administration de la police. Une expérience pratique de commandement dans la direction
d’unités de police de niveau régional ou étatique est requise. Une experience policière en gestion des
ressources humaines et financières, la formation et le développement de la police, la gestion du changement,
de la réforme et de la restructuration est hautement souhaitable. Une expérience antérieure au sein des Nations
Unies ou une expérience internationale est un avantage.
Grade* :
• Le grade requis pour un D-1 est Commissaire Divisionnaire, Contrôleur Général, Chef de Police
adjoint, équivalent au grade militaire de General de Brigade ou tout grade équivalent ou supérieur.
• Le grade requis pour un P-5 est Commissaire Principal de Police, Colonel ou tout grade equivalent ou
supérieur.
Langues : En fonction de l’opération de maintien de la paix du déploiement, la maîtrise de l'anglais (dans les
missions anglophones), la français et l’anglais (dans les missions francophones), oral et écrit est requise.
Certaines missions peuvent exiger la maîtrise d’une langue supplémentaire. La connaissance d'une autre
langue officielle des Nations Unies est un avantage.
